This print is part of a series I did in the early days of my career as a printmaker. Inspired by my intaglio teacher Dadi Wirz I investigated in the endless possibilities of softground etching and aquatint along with a very experimental approach towards printmaking in general. Besides the technical interest in printmaking I delved in the mythology and lived tradition of native americans in general and specifically their strong relationship to plants as just another people living on this planet. The plant corn is in their conviction the messenger and symbol for the union amongst people, especially the colored corn. For the colored corn carries the black (blue), the red, the yellow and the white seeds, resembling all nations, all colors and all people. So it transports an important message for we are all originating from the same soil and source of life.
