This is a little Drypoint Etching. A Drypoint is made by drawing with a steel needle into the copperplate. The draftsmen can define the presence of the line by applying more ore less pressure whilst drawing, just like with a soft pencil. The muse in this case was the flowerbut of a wild Iris growing arround the artists studio.
